| Hire4ED (Corporate Internship)
Program // How it Works
When
many folks hear about our program, they say, "What? High
school students working to pay for their education? How does that
work?"
In truth, it's fairly simple. At the heart of the program is the
following equation:
Job Sharing + Employee Leasing = A Unique Educational
Opportunity.

Basically, one
full-time, entry-level office job at your organization will support
a team of four students. The cost is $25,000 for the year and helps
pay the tuition for the students working at your organization. In
return, the students will bring their expertise and energy to your
organization. St. Martin de Porres will handle all employment issues
such as workers’ compensation, Social Security, Medicare and tax
withholding.
Our specialized scheduling, which enables students to work five days
a month without missing any instructional time. The chart below
shows when a given student will be at work and when she'll be at
school. SMdP students work from Labor Day to mid-June. Students can
be hired for a per diem rate to cover holiday and summer time
responsibilities.

By working
these five days each month, every SMdP student will earn enough
money to pay for the majority of his or her education. A number of
Lake County businesses have already committed to becoming corporate
partners (see
list).
